Share What You Have/ Love What You Do/ Sergey Rachmaninov/ Symphony No 2 in E minor Op 27 Adagio

I have gone into this zone the past few days that is hard to describe.   So instead of trying to do that I will just share what has been “going on” . . .

Yesterday it snowed for a few minutes.  Thick flakes filled the air and brought themselves to earth resting briefly around trees and on rooftops.

And today it is even colder.  It was in the mid twenties when I went out early this morning.  I have finished the photos for the local Chamber of Commerce Newcomer’s Guide.  And a the local NBC affiliate called and asked if they could use one of my photos over the next few days as a backdrop for the weather report.

I don’t know which one they are using.  Maybe I should tune in and find out.

I have been expressing a lot of the love I feel for this area in the past few weeks.  I guess some of it may be coming back.  Isn’t that the way it goes?

We all want to progress in our endeavors.  Perhaps it’s just a matter of sending out the best that you have and sending it with positive feelings.   It may really be far from perfect or even professional.  But how much of that is there around really?   Compared to the need?

There is room for much more in any case.  So share what you have!

And something good may come back to you.  Or you will just feel good in any case.

Here’s something you may enjoy if you have time to listen to it.

The Crowd Not Among Us At The Richmond Folk Festival 2008

I found the bug that caused this post to go away. And this seems like the perfect time to also bring it back. So here it is.

I was looking around at the crowd yesterday at the Richmond Folk Festival.

I have trouble being in crowds. It’s a lot better than it used to be and since I have started taking photos I feel practically normal in the midst of my fellow human beings.

It has reached a point where I can enjoy them and yesterday it went a step beyond that.

I was looking around and it suddenly hit me that I owe a debt to all these people. Because they form the society that protects us in many different ways from many different things including powerful entities that can get out of control.

Many of them are involved in some way or another in every thing that I have as well. And at the top of this list is freedom. I wouldn’t do well living in a fascist state and am unhappy when someone suggests I do.  Communism would not be much fun either.  In the real world.

It is my belief that (although they often do not realize it) the soldier and the protester are actually fighting for the same thing.  Freedom from oppression.  One looks outward and the other more inward.  Together they find a most difficult balance in a society like ours.

Some I do not see as I look around today. They cannot enjoy the beautiful weather and the entertainment. I cannot take their photo.

But their names are engraved on glass at the top of the hill. And when the sun sets it casts a beautiful light across them.
Perhaps I have not done that light justice in these photo. But it was there and I wanted to try and share it with you.

Tuesday Evening/ Ruminations Are Endless

I added something to the Men and Women In Love post.  I made it into a kind of poem with music.  I hope that if you already read it you will look at it again.

The World Series game last night provided a perfect opportunity to write a post that allows so many different views.  I hope they will all be expressed.

Controversial is an understatement.  This game offered us a World Series of controversy.  It was great.  It was something we have not seen before.  I really didn’t care who won although I slightly favored the Rays.  But now! Philadelphia must win or it is the greatest World Series Heist of all time.

The weather has plummeted down into the thirties here and we have had lots of rain.  It has been much like it was last night at the game!  Surprise!  I am hoping that all of this will lead the leaves to explode with color this weekend.

Hopefully my Nikon D70 will return soon and participate in the orgy of color.  The Nikon factory certainly contains an introverted bunch of fixers.  I have not heard a word except that they got the parts and they are sorry it is taking so long.

People love to decorate for Halloween.  Only Christmas is more of a decoration scene.  I learned that by reading one of  Evita’s fine posts.

It doesn’t seem like anyone is really interested in my stumbling/linking ideas.  That’s fine.  Like most of my ideas it is here today and gone tomorrow.  This is what makes blogging such a great medium for folks like me.   It is ADHD heaven.

The election craziness will be over soon.  It may be that Democrats need to be at least 12 points ahead in the polls to actually win on election day based on recent history.  Given this fact it is not wise to let Joe Biden go out in public.  He should go visit VP Cheney at the Naval Observatory and explore his new home  underground.

Can you tell I am not a big fan of the VP in waiting?  Oh well.

Whatever happens we will learn much from the experience.  And the world will not come to an end.  There will be the inevitable reaction in a different direction.  And off we will go again.  Will any truly meaningful problems be solved?  I doubt it.

Beth is coming home tomorrow.  I saved the best for last.  I am going to have to tell Charlize Theron she must  pack up and go back to her boyfriend.

It’s not going to be an easy task.  She has learned to like it here.

Autumn Leaves

This is a photo from last year about this time. I took it at Maymont Park downtown and thought I would put it up again. Apologies to those who have already seen it. We are still waiting for some autumn color around here. The temperature is supposed to be mid 80’s this afternoon.

It’s a cheerful photo and one that reminds me why I enjoy photography so much.

And photography is important here. I’ve written a little about economics and politics lately but that’s not going to be a regular thing. I don’t know enough about it and it’s kind of depressing as well.

Poetry is important too. The Boss Poem is just a simple little thing and it is being viewed now over three hundred times per day. It’s not StumbleUpon either. It’s search engine traffic and people are apparently concerned about their relationship with their boss.

That’s not surprising. Job concerns have to be high on a great number of lists these days.

Lots of activities may be cut back. But we can all still blog can’t we? We can write prose and poetry. We can take photos and we can offer encouraging comments to each other.

Taking photos is a lot cheaper when you don’t have to develop film. And everyone already has a computer. Maybe dial ups will make a comeback though.

Maybe the photos should be smaller and fewer to the page.

I don’t know. But the weather is terrific and it’s relaxing to run out into nature somewhere and start looking for the beauty wherever she may be.

It’s a recipe for dealing with the emotions that accompany changing times. Document the changing foliage. Take photos of the clouds.

Update// Well this explains all the readers. . .

Boss’s Day (also known as Bosses Day or National Boss Day) is a secular holiday celebrated[citation needed] on October 16 in the United States. It has traditionally been a day for employees to thank their boss for being kind and fair throughout the year. The holiday has been the source of some controversy and criticism in the United States, where it is often mocked as a Hallmark Holiday. Recently, sites like Hallmark have recognized the holiday with a contemporary spin
