Good Vibrations/ The Beach Boys/ Flowers In September

This morning was pretty nice with a cool breeze and overcast skies. So I headed out to the botanical gardens here in Richmond and took some photos to share with you. While walking around the grounds I ran into another retired guy with a camera who was also admiring the scenery and we chatted for awhile. He told me that he takes a photo each day and sends it out to several hundred folks on his email list.

So now there are several hundred and one eager recipients waiting for the next photo and I will also share the link here when it arrives.

And why not add some music to this post?

“But David the music and the photos are not synchronized! The photos end before the music and then they start over again! “

Well, yes, this is true. But if you notice the words in the songs sometimes repeat as well. There’s often a chorus. And if we like the music generally we are happy to hear it again. I’m optimistic enough to believe you might want to see the photos a few more times before you move on to your next activity.

Also you can click on the thing and stop the photos from whizzing by if you would like to slow things down and hang out with one or two for awhile.

So if you do please click on the music. Then click on the thumbnail for a slide show. And hopefully all will be well.

Dreaming About Taking Great Photos/ Photo Presentation Options

I have found lately that some of the best communication I have with fellow bloggers is not coming through comments here but through the Stumble Toolbar.  And that’s great.   It’s a very convenient way to communicate and you can get more done there with thumbs up and reviews and so forth.

It’s quick and that’s important to someone like me who can hold a thought for about ten seconds.  And so I will try to remember to respond more quickly to the SU toolbar message deal.

I’m feeling better this morning.  And I have been thinking about making frames and displaying some of my favorite photos.  The old neglected woodshop could use some activity too.  Here is something I was reading this am that convinced me to try it.

I have also been playing around at photo.net .   Posting a few photos and exploring the area.  They have some amazing photographers here.  The photos are stunning.  It makes me want to just become totally immersed in the art form.

Here are a few favorites I have collected in just a short while there.  The Osprey is just amazing, isn’t it?   I couldn’t take a photo like that in a million years of trying.  Perhaps I could take one of a girl taking a bath with a thirsty horse.  But I would have to find a girl willing to take a bath, a large container of water and a horse first of all.

Plus the lighting would have to be really nice and maybe a few other things that I haven’t even thought about.

Then there is this slide show deal that looks like it has possibilities.  The photos in general are not as great but they do an excellent job of allowing you to present your work. And while photo.net limits the size to 1500 pixels you can choose larger sizes with this setup.

So I’m focusing on the photos as we move forward and hoping to learn more about taking good ones. Better ones. Always hoping to move forward and someday take photos that will amaze the world.  These photos are from our trip last summer to Cape Cod to see Dad and Martha’s Vineyard to look for Carly Simon.

We can all dream. That’s what we are doing in fact.

It’s just nicer when we have pleasant ones.

Our children Spinner and Marty wanted to go sightseeing. So Beth And I took them out this morning. We started here on one end of the Virginia Beach boardwalk and walked down to the other end. It’s about a 2.5 mile walk and they had a great time. We also had fun photographing them as they enjoyed some of the art and landmarks on the boardwalk. Here are some of the photos. And then you can click on the Slide Show if you want to examine their adventure (with captions!) in further detail. :)
