The Beatles/ Patty Boyd/ Craig Ferguson/ YouTube

I decided to try and clean up my diet this weekend and am not having a fun time this morning.  I have found that you cannot give up things that are bad for you sometimes without actually feeling worse before you feel better.

Not a revelation for sure.   But the headache I woke up with this morning!  Refined sugar is a beast.  And it will not go quietly.

YouTube really is quite entertaining.  When I am out and about I sometimes will dial in to some comedy or a wonderful music video from the past.   This morning I have been distracting my brain from the pain by looking at some old Beatles interviews.  There are quite a few of them and they are fascinating.  I listened to Patty Boyd talk about her amazing love life with two famous musicians.  I also discovered the George was having an affair with Ringo’s wife!   Who knew?  What a complicated and untenable situation.

And then there is a video of Paul talking about how he met Linda.

No wonder YouTube is so popular.  Hopefully it and the TubeTube will get along and have a good working relationship in the future.

Here’s the link in case anyone would like to look at it.

I have been putting a lot of videos up here lately and think I will give the blog a rest.  I put together a couple of more videos and they are on my YouTube homepage here:

As you can see if you go there I become obsessed with someone and collect a lot of videos about them.  First it was Jordin Sparks.  Now it’s Craig Ferguson.

Women (and perhaps some guys too) put together these tribute videos of Craig.  And I enjoy them for some reason.  I’m trying to figure out why.  The fact that they think he is sexy really doesn’t mean much.

I don’t have a gay bone in my body just for the record and stay clear of other people’s alimentary canals having enough trouble with my own.  But I admire him and probably wish my life in the the thirties or forties was more like his.  He is a funny guy and also had the guts to give up alcohol completely.   He’s pretty honest about things as well.  He talks to the audience in the introduction without a script.

Sort of like what I do when I write a post in a ruminating way.

Just like this for example.

So I think I will go take a walk and try to get rid of the remainder of this headache.  I need to go take some photos for the Chamber of Commerce project and it’s no fun taking them when your head hurts.

Maybe the cool air will do some good.

And a few nasty cookies.  A hair of the dog that bit me in the *ss.

So to speak.

David Cook/ American Idol Winner

After watching David’s videos without all the AI distractions I believe he can easily come out with an album that will have at least three or four major hits on it and go right to number one on the charts and stay there awhile.

Watch Eleanor Rigby around 2:23 and witness him blast off. He leaves the American Idol stage and the AI program at this moment. It’s a music video. It’s another world. And he can’t contain himself after it is over. “Rock Out when you hit the chorus” Randy says. “Brilliant” Simon says. “You could win this entire show.”

Here are some of his performances on YouTube. Please let me know when they stop working. it won’t be long most probably.

You know what? Rather than just putting up David Cook video’s and coming back a few days later to find they have turned into somebody’s Little League game here is the link to David Cook videos.

I can’t keep up with this stuff.

Here is a nice article about David. He’s a pretty cool guy and smart too.

Working With YouTube/ Fitting Players Into Posts

It is early Saturday morning and I sit here trying to undo some of the mess I have created in the past week. It is not worth getting into the sad details but the whole situation was prompted by the idea of adding YouTube music videos here. And it seemed like many of them would not fit in this three column template. The template is great in most regards so it’s not going anywhere. And then I decided to put the videos over on my other blog. It has only two columns and photos and videos tend to fit better. But going back and forth is not good. It’s just not good. Google would probably wonder what was going on after awhile and start uninviting me to the dance.

So I took a deep breath and went to YouTube prepared to read some instructions and figure out what I could do to fit all these wonderful music videos in Virginia Breeze. And I am happy to say it has worked out pretty well to this point.

It is simply a matter of creating a custom music video player and embedding it in a post. Then (and this is the most important part) I had to change the values for width and height before closing up the post. I quickly learned that once this was done you can never mess around with the post again. If ANYTHING is changed or modified it will blow the thing up. At least that is my experience.

I also was able to create lists of music once I established an account. I now have a list of Andrea Bocelli videos and a list of Jordin Sparks videos for example . And it is fun to add to them and also create new lists. One thing that is really helpful is the fact that you can add music videos to your lists later on and they automatically are added to the custom player in your blog.

So here is the music video I created for Jordin and her new CD. She reports that it has reached platinum status. I have no idea how many copies that would be and maybe will look it up if things ever reach a relaxed status around here. Here is an example of a custom player loaded with music videos. You choose the color and embed it in the Code section of the Write Post section. And then as I said you do everything you need to do. It reminds me of those movies where they set demolition charges and wire everything up. They check it about fifty times and then throw the switch. Except hopefully in this case the explosion does not happen.

If I do make a mistake and need to “Go back in” it’s simple enough to go back to my account and grab the embed code again. Maybe there is a simpler way but I would not know.

So if a word is misspelled and I see it later it’s too bad Jack. Maybe I better make sure right now and then we will try to leave a video player here.
