Wednesday Evening/ Henry Miller/ Tropic of Cancer

I was sitting in a parking lot today in Beth’s car.  My car is getting the inspection sticker that it should have received last month.  But I was distracted last month by turquoise  water and pink sand.  So she made me take it in today and generously let me take her car when I needed to go out.  But her air conditioning doesn’t work and it must be at least 110 degrees in this parking lot.  The sun beats down on the asphalt and all the heat accumulates in the tar and the gravel.  And then I come along and sit  like an overfed turkey waiting to be basted.

Why was i sitting there?  I was waiting for someone.  Always try to arrange to meet someone under a tree somewhere.  Go around one day and find meeting places with a lot of nice shade.  Write them down and put them in the glove compartment.  Put a copy next to the phone in your office.

You will thank me for this little tip.  I’m not Martha Stewart.  But then I haven’t spent a lot of time in the slammer either.   Did Henry Miller ever spend time in jail?

I do not know.  You can read his work or at least some of it  in the Google Book Search.  Did you know that?  I remember some time ago reading about Goog doing this and all the evil things that would follow.  The Tropic of Cancer/ Google Book Search.

I found this cool quote from Henry and it is now lodged at the top of the VB sidebar.

“The diary is an art form
just as much as the novel
or the play. The diary simply
requires a greater canvas.”
~ Henry Miller

And so for all of us who are indulging in personal blogs we now have someone who supports our efforts.   Here is someone who can pick us up when we fall into a hole and feel totally lost.  Get up!  Be an artist!  Create something!   You don’t have to be an intellectual to be an artist.  You can feel intimidated by intellectuals if you like.  But that’s your choice.

Artists are just people who like to create things and use their imaginations.

I don’t plan to go down the road that Henry Miller traveled in this book.  Probably the closest I will ever get is my recent post about the Midlife crisis and the Island of Dr. Moronic.

We (men) can change into such nasty creatures sometimes.

There is hope however once we get older.  Give us a camera and point us in the right direction.  Let us play with a pile of wood.  And hope for the best.   The aging process is good for wine and people.  We should not let our culture tell us otherwise.

Andrea Bocelli / Blixed

11-rapsodia-rhapsody

I hope my readers will forgive me but I need to change themes again this evening. I need a theme that is very SEO friendly AND simple.  The one I have been using today is not simple although it is good in the SEO department.  And I have enough challenges trying to discover why Google has gone away.

I don’t need to wrestle with a theme too. So here we are back with Sadish whom I trust and a very nice theme called Blixed.  You just take it out of the box and start it up!  A few photos may be a bit too wide but that’s about the extent of the problems, hopefully, I will face.

And it is only a two column theme. But I have been reading that a two column theme is more attractive, less cluttered and it is the one used by “most successful bloggers”.    Well hey!  We all want to be one of those although I’m finding the prospect of becoming one fading into the distance.

Maybe Google had a reason for waiting until my first anniversary to say good-bye.  Maybe they have different rules or more strick rules for the second year.

Who knows?  But I am trying to figure it out. One thing for sure is don’t take your popularity plugin and print the results in a post.  That’s about thirty links.  That’s no good I bet.  So all those are coming out. And I installed Robots Meta and Platinum SEO Pack (the ultimate SEO guide).

And, as I said, this theme is supposed to be very good SEO- wise.

We will see.  The important thing is to have friends.  Blogging buddies.  Google went down in importance in my book.  Just like I apparently went down in theirs.   And the silver lining is better understanding of why I do this every day.  When you lose there is always a silver lining.  And I have learned over the years that your failures contribute very much to your ultimate success if you learn from them.

So sorry about the theme.  I hope someone enjoys Andrea tonight.

Update/ Too many photos to fix.  I am not a photo editing machine.  Too bad.  It was a nice theme.

Andrea Bocelli/ The Organization Man Strikes Back

Well it’s now Friday afternoon and I haven’t had a Google referral since four am this morning.  And my readjustment to the new working environment is just about complete. My friends and fellow bloggers are more important than loads of readers.

Meanwhile the reorganization of my life is going well.  I continue to walk regularly and stay away from sugar and teflon.  I am falling down a little when it comes to wine however.  After giving up rum a void was created in my life particularly in the five pm slot.

Wine seems so natural.  Grapes in another form. So we continue to battle with some things.  I did get a happy surprise when I discovered that my photos hadn’t been dumped in a pile when I put them back in the nice, clean newly formatted computer.  They had been fooling me.  I should have put all of them back instead of running off after seeing what the first DVD did.

Here are some cool things.  GForce for Windows Media Player. Just hit the Print Screen button/ Go to Accessories then Paint/ hit Ctrl +V and you have a screenshot like this. . . gforce3 300x240 Andrea Bocelli/ The Organization Man Strikes Back Here we have GForce making some cool designs.

I was listening and watching Andrea Bocelli on YouTube and decided I needed the CD he was discussing. So I went to Amazon.com thinking it would be awhile before I got it.  But they had a MP3 download available immediately for about nine dollars.

So you can see how all the things on the desktop came together in short order.
