TGIF

It has been a crazy week. Blogging can be strange sometimes. And I apologize for not getting out much and visiting some of my favorite places. But it actually does take hours to fix things when they get messed up. It doesn’t seem like hours. Time doesn’t seem to exist much when I’m doing this stuff on the computer. That’s one reason I enjoy it. The frustrating part is when these little messages start popping up from Windows. Error! Such and such is trying to do this and that without success! You make it disappear. It pops back up again. The little sucker hasn’t shown up for awhile. It likes to lull me into complacency and then it reappears.

I’m ready to reformat the puter if it comes back. We will see who is in charge here.

It’s time to head out again. Beth and I are going to the beach for the weekend. The Neptune Festival has arrived. Hundreds of artistic types will be there trying to make a living selling all sorts of things on the boardwalk. Amazing works of art will arise out of the sand. Sometimes it is very cold by the time this event is held. This year it will be very nice. It’s still eighty degree weather. And it has stopped raining. Everything is very, very dry.

The state fair is also gearing up here in Richmond. We are going to hit it next week. This time of year is actually full of events locally. Last year we had a great time at the music festival that came to town and plan to go again this year. We had an opportunity to appreciate music that was born in America and carries on until this day.

My laptop is fixed up with a Verizon device that captures the internet wherever I go now. It’s an amazing thing. No more dial ups when we go out of town.

I listened to a podcast yesterday while I was out and about. It was pretty boring. I would rather read something if the truth be known. And there were advertisements as well! I understand that folks are enamored with the new technologies. But somebody needs to learn how to channel Johny Carson or it’s never going to be more than a curiosity for folks like me. When is the next time I plan to download a podcast?

Probably about the same time I forget that I ever heard this one. Beth says that will be this time next week. I’m saying this time next year.

So we are just about at the end of the Marlin Perkins show. Everyone should try to deal with the disappointment that it’s over. The holidays are coming. Things will get better. Maybe I will start taking photos of Christmas decorations.

Just kidding. It’s time for breakfast. Have a good day.

Daily Ruminations on August 15

Two days ago I did an experiment with tags and the results are now available. Over twice as many readers tuned in to that ridiculous post. You are probably saying right now, “Which post was that? There are so many”. This post made little or no sense and was full of popular tag words. Most of them are just full of regular words. Non celebrity words. In any case we had many viewers and most likely many of them were puzzled or upset and will never come back. Because the next day we had very few visitors. So this clearly is not a good way to boost your Neilson ratings.
Personally, I thought the post was funny and it made a good point. But I can see how others might see it. And then I followed up a day later with the picture of a snake who is right up in the viewers face. He wasn’t warm or fuzzy. He was a snake and I love him because he had the courage to be himself. But others might wish he would slither off to another part of the internet.

Perhaps I have forgotten the blogging rule about remembering your audience. Maybe it’s time to write it down. I don’t know. I often forget to write things down.

We all have our ups and downs in our daily lives. Some days we do a good job. And on other days we find events doing a job on us. I try to figure out a way to do things better most every day. But I don’t have high expectations about how things will turn out. You can do this and still be an optimist. Because the optimism part motivates you to try to do better. And if things don’t work out it is still there in the morning. Disappointment is avoided. And eventually progress happens. Like rain in the middle of August.
It always rains eventually.
