My Halloween Post Not Doing Well/ It’s Dying/ Perhaps Too Scary

Table of contents for The National Zoo

  2. The National Zoo/ Lizards/ Asian Water Dragon
  3. My Halloween Post Not Doing Well/ It’s Dying/ Perhaps Too Scary

Call me an idealistic  pie-in-the-sky kind of guy but I was really hoping that. . .

The National Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo Family Halloween Party

would get some traction and be seen by a lot of readers right here at Halloween time.  I installed a StumbleUpon button just for this purpose.   I could have gone to the SU toolbar and asked/begged for reviews but that’s so old.  It’s time for things to start flowing more naturally like a leaf in a forest stream.

Or I’m just dreaming.  In any case only 200 readers have seen BOO so far and SU typically does much better than that.  I tried.  There are a number of examples of BOO.   It’s Funny according to Robin and Evita.  And if they say it’s funny well. . . .

But it’s not too late.  Halloween is still a few days away.   And if it will help I will go back to asking/begging for SU support.

PLEASE stumble the little skeletons!  Look at the one patiently sitting on his outdoor commode.  He’s waiting for you!

For the rest of the month (and maybe longer) I will link to one of my favorite posts in your blog in a post if you review in SU one of your favorite posts here.  Hint: BOO!

And have a Crazy/Happy  and/or  Scary/Safe Halloween.

, originally uploaded by Davidlind.

Your blogging friend has been asked to do the photos for a Visitor’s Guide published by the Chamber of Commerce in this area.

How about that?  And it’s a perfect time of year to take some photos of the outdoors with the leaves just starting to seriously turn different colors.

This publication will go out to thousands of people in the area and it will include a bio of the photographer. So I will be taking a lot of photos in the next few weeks. And there should be some photos of Heaven being published soon because that’s where I will be.

This has also got me thinking about publishing a book of poems and photos using Amazon.com. I’m a little late for this Christmas but we will see.

First things first and the Visitors Guide.

I will let you know how it goes.

Also a new edition of Wordpress has come out today.  It offers a couple of security fixes so it’s probably a good idea to “get er done”.   And prior to that . . . Today would be a good day to BACK UP the blog.  In fact I am going to do it right now and suggest you might want to do it too.

Links And Page Rank/ Reaching Out To Readers/ RLS And Understanding

Table of contents for 10/Writing About Blogging

  1. Entrecard/ LinkReferral/ 125Exchange
  2. Calling Mr. Math Wizard/ Readers By The Week
  3. Andrea Bocelli / Blixed
  4. Yoast/ Tweaking Websites/ Google Update
  5. Links And Page Rank/ Reaching Out To Readers/ RLS And Understanding

I don’t understand a lot about SEO and this blog really isn’t too concerned about it.  As time goes on I find it more difficult to read due to the medication I take for RLS.  Restless Legs Syndrome.  And so trying to comprehend a text about SEO is difficult.

I like taking photos and enjoy editing them.  Writing doesn’t seem to be affected too much.  But if I sit down with a book I go to sleep after about three pages.  I used to love to read and I have a nice library so this is frustrating to some degree.

But it’s just the way life is. . . You go up and you go down.  You count your blessings and you deal with your problems. You take your meds and YOU will take them too when you need them.

So back to the SEO stuff.  What I DO understand is that linking to posts you find interesting is very important.  And I actually do that quite a bit.  I don’t buy the theory that you want to keep people on your blog so you don’t send them to interesting places.  I find this ludicrous and a lot like trying to collect water with a sieve.  Someone did some testing and found that you are better off showering your readers with interesting links.  Because they will come back for more!

Look at Drudge!  That’s all he does and he has made millions.

In the past we  have concentrated on the StumbleUpon stuff.  And that’s fairly temporary.  What we need to do is send links back and forth from relevant posts.

This is what will produce higher PR and in turn more search engine traffic.

Blogging is fun.  It’s even an entertaining conversation from time to time.

PR is important.  We went through a period where a lot of folks were saying it’s not.  But that was, in my opinion, a reaction to the fact that PR was being reduced on the blogs of a lot of these same folks.   PR helps us to reach out to a larger audience.

I await your comments.  And if I say that  you need  to “draw me a picture” don’t take it personally, alright?

Happy Boss Day (October 16th) Or Any Day HEY-HEY

I was having a bad day when I wrote this poem over a year ago.  It’s the most popular post ever here at Virginia Breeze.   Why is that do you think?  It doesn’t say very much about the quality of this blog.  Does it?   I was thinking about a boss I had a long time ago when I wrote it.  And I was also thinking about someone more recently in my life (unfortunately) who THINKS she is my boss*. So I had a great time doing this and released all the negative feelings and let them go with a laugh. Such a silly poem.  Tickets, please!!

*And it’s not my wife by a long shot.  So Happy Bosses Day everyone!

THE BOSS POEM

Dear Boss I wish you well this year

And well upon your way from here.

May soon you land on distant shores

Where they won’t let you pray before

They sacrifice your scrawny butt

And hang your head above a hut

Next to the tribal eating place

Where you are served up after grace.

Because they really love to eat

And you are such a lovely treat.

So here’s a ticket. There’s the boat

Happy hunting you old goat.

You are the prize so don’t delay

Just say goodbye and go away!

We won’t be seeing you around

But we will manage anyhow.
