Truddle has been on my case lately in a friendly sort of way and has done this wicked thing this morning. Now when I say “wicked” I hope everyone understands that this is a misuse of the word and Truddle is not a character from The Witches of Eastbrook or wherever it was they had the misfortune of living when Jack Nicholson came to town. At least I am not aware that she is although she does have some mystical inclinations that might border on the magical in an emergency.

But I doubt I know seven people to inflict this list upon and my two paid readers have a clause in their contracts that prohibit this sort of thing. We will just have to see about that part.

One. I am afraid of alligators because when I was very small and was in bed at night I would wake up and they would be up in my window (on the outside thankfully) smiling at me. After I screamed a few times they would go away.

Two. I have RLS Restless Legs Sydrome and it goes away if I play on the computer. I play on the computer a lot and often tell my wife that I have RLS and it helps me deal with it if I play on the computer.

Three. I believe in reincarnation. I had a vision one time and realized that my lovely wife was my mother in my past lifetime. That was back around 1903. I died when I was a small child. She died of an illness a couple of years later. It was not a happy time. But on the bright side we missed World War One, The Depression and World War II. Wherever we were during that time I’m sure we were having a lot more fun than most of the people who were still here.

Four. I used to play the alto saxophone and was in a big band a long time ago that played at the Newport Jazz Festival. When I met my future wife this was probably the only reason she agreed to go out on a date with me. I hadn’t yet discovered that she used to be my mother. If she had known that she never would have dated me even if I played for Benny Goodman and had made seven albums with Boots Randolph.

Five. I enjoy snorkeling a great deal around the reefs that populate the Bahamas. I could just lay out there for days watching the colorful fish and feeling almost weightless. I could stay out there so long that you might think I belonged in one of those old Fifties horror movies about blobs and things. I could play the blob that is white on one side and sunburned on the other but really wrinkled all over.

Six. I am not big and athletic at all but have two sons who are both very big, strong and athletic. How did that happen?

Seven. I think that Snickers Ice Cream Bars are the best food that was ever created by man and/or woman. I will walk a mile for one of those. And then I will walk a few more miles to avoid carrying the calories around for the rest of my life.

Is that it? We got to seven already and I haven’t even warmed up. What? You feel it’s alright and we should stop? Oh, you want to know how I can read your mind since I wrote this awhile ago and am out looking for ice cream right now!!

I am afraid that’s another story and we are all out of numbers. Thanks Truddle and safe traveling over the holidays.

Here’s a wonderful young person who I hope will read this post and follow the routine.

Another great blog with good ideas and well written posts. Enjoy.

A serious blog about global warming and environmental concerns. But he did comment on my blog so hey! He still might be a little crazy or have a weird fact or two in the old hard drive.

This is a neat lady who has lots of stuff for Christmas! Shopping? Christmas? What’s that rumbling noise I hear?

http://gardengrow.wordpress.com/

This lovely lady is a very talented photographer who can find interesting shots ANYwhere. And she is writing too so this is a very creative and interesting place for me personally and I’m sure for many of you.

Part of the post was accidentally deleted. Oh well. I don’t know this blogger but hopefully this tag will help that situation.

Here is one of my fellow Virginians who must be having a fine time because she lives in this state! Right? I don’t know actually but I hope she wants to share some things so I can find out more.
So that’s it. And I started out feeling bad about bothering anyone. I hate doing that. But then I realized that all these folks are going to get traffic and an opportunity to talk about themselves and their interests. That can’t be bad can it? I hope not. And as I was going down thru the comments I realized that these folks came to my blog and took the time to comment and what did I do? I responded with a little comment and that was it! Well, maybe that’s not enough! Maybe you have to reach out and not worry about bothering people. I would not be a good sales person. And it take a little of that sometimes to make something happen. So this was good. Thanks again Truddle. Harry Potter has nothing on you.

And here is a little frosting on the cake. I have always admired Lorelle and her wonderful blogging efforts. So I left a comment yesterday and she responded. Here is how it went:

Me:

I enjoyed your comments about content vs SEO optimization. For awhile now it has been clear to me that my brain cannot cover the distances between creating something and making sure the links all have a clear shot to the pages of Google. It is just too much so I have decided to attempt some originality and creativity and pretty much ignore the other. Or pray for plugins that will do it for me. And it seems to be working. Google liked my Wordpress.com blog enough after a few months to make it a five pr. So I feel that Google and I have or are beginning to have some sort of mystical connection. Somehow Google is figuring out how to leave SEO behind and merge with the creative minds out here. It’s happening. I can feel it.

Good. When you don’t work at it, it works better. :D

I stopped looking at page ranking and stats a long time ago. It isn’t important to why I blog. Hopefully, soon you will get to that point, too. You will blog better.

Pretty cool, huh? And good advice.

Thanks for playing David - it was fun to read your list :-)

“she does have some mystical inclinations that might border on the magical in an emergency ” - this has been said about me before… interesting!

    Dear David,
While i am quite pleased you tagged me and gardengrow, I feel quite out of the league and I just hope I can come up with 7 other bloggers to tag. (Don’t be surprised if I re-tag you; I might be con-fluggled!) And David, just as Lorelle said, “Just blog. Don’t worry.” For some of us, actually for me, I don’t know what SEO optimization or plug-ins even are, and I have no clue how to find a page-rank… so I just keep taking photos and posting. That is the fun part. If I had to add calculated planning to the mix, I would have given up before beginning. :-) So now you want 7 interesting things about me??? It’s okay if I lie, right?

Dear Barbara. My dear mother who is no longer with us was named Barbara so I very much like the name. You will be fine and just do what you can do and are happy doing. It is a tug out of the comfort zone for some of us but this is the way people get to know each other. If they stay in their comfort zones all the time like me they meet maybe five people per year. I’m just guessing about that number but you see what I mean. And you may run across some unpleasant situation and someone who is quick to tell you the unpleasantness is your fault and if you had just minded your own business and not assaulted them they would be their charming selves instead of giving them permission to be an AH. But I am sure we don’t have anybody around here like that. SEO? Everyone has their own level of happiness with SEO. I would be happy if Google sent me five thousand readers a day looking for Photos of An Aging Love Child. So I try to figure it out. It’s more fantasy than reality really. But it’s fun.

David, I really enjoyed reading your facts about you and getting to know you a little better. I too love snorkelling - can’t say I’ve been to the Bahamas but the Maldives were equally magical.

  10. Davidlindon Nov 26th 2007 at 5:53 pm

Thanks Helena. I didn’t know you loved snorkling. Isn’t it just the most wonderful thing? So much better than sky diving I think. I have enjoyed reading your blog and getting to know you for awhile now too. I just like the way you do things and your photography is magical.

So what do you think now?

  12. Davidlindon Nov 26th 2007 at 9:15 pm

Yes, it’s a good idea and a good way for folks to get to know each other.
