What a nice day! I woke up this morning and everything was pretty much at a standstill around here. Where the street used to be there was lots of snow. And I am sure I heard cheers from the neighborhood children as they awoke and stood at their living room windows.
Today was not a day for the normal routine. Sure there are still things to worry about and I could hear them whispering to me in the back of my mind.
But I pushed them aside and went for a walk to take some photos at the U of Richmond. How many opportunities to take photos of snow have we had here in Richmond in the past few years? Not many.
And when we went for our walk I was happy to hear the sounds of young people playing in the snow. They were having a football game on the baseball diamond. They were rigging a giant slingshot and shooting snowballs incredible distances at each other. Couples were taking walks and photos of each other using the snow as a lovely backdrop.
It was a great day and we should have more of them! But, of course, it must snow a lot for us to have them and nature is totally unpredictable.
AND it is in control as it showed us today. Thankfully it demonstrated its power in a way that was benign for the most part and quite beautiful. Hopefully we can continue to “work together” in this way.
I hope so.

nice pictures, the dog in the snow looks cool and the trees are looking beautiful
I would like to see you do a “Part 2″ to this post. I think that a lot of the readers are learning a lot, and I am sure many of us would like to hear from you again about this.
Having fun in the snow with a dog is one of the best thing one man can do in a free morning. Lucky you!

i much prefer the warm season, but snow can bring a “magical” atmosphere that makes you want to stop time… and on sunny day, it’s spectacular and you suddenly find yourself smiling for no reason at all… maybe winter should always be “snow and sun” to drive away the blues
… i love the bridge photos… and the ducks are quite brave to be in the freezing water
