Friday Ruminations
I was looking here yesterday evening and just sort of staring at the blog. Feeling relatively empty after a week of turmoil and just amazed also at all the things I have done here in the past month.
Lots of creative stuff for an old geezer and maybe that’s what blogging will do for you after awhile. Like anything else if you pursue it over a period of time you will learn some things and grow in different ways. I was amazed as I went back to the beginning of our trip in August. But now I’m feeling pretty much empty. When that happens it is always a good time to try and get out to take more photos. Photos are the fuel and the Nikon D70 is the fuel tank. It is rather small by today’s standards but then the fuel comes in micro-bits.
Beth tells me that the National Folk Festival will not be coming here this year but Richmond has managed to retain all the sponsors and plans to do the same thing again. Hopefully many of the same talented people will be here plus some more. Smile everyone! Click.
Actually that’s not the way we take photos here. We like to go for the candid shot. And it’s difficult to get birds to smile. Their beaks are a little too stiff.
And then we will be going up to northern Virginia to see my daughter and her family. We have not seen their new home in Leesburg, Virginia. It’s a pretty picture perfect part of the state so there should be more photo opportunities there. As well as my grandchildren of course. But not to worry they are all part of the paranoid wing of the party (I mean family) and like Beth will never be seen online. Or rarely. I have managed to sneak one or two photos of the kids into the blog but don’t tell anyone.
One thing I did manage to create this week was a new look for http://myfotobuzz.com. Each post is going to be a combination of one larger photo and then there will be four NextGen photos with similar content beneath. I think it will be pretty interesting. After a year or two with keyword growth it should do well. If you have a nice photoblog why not think about linking up? That helps everyone too when done in a legitimate way.
Eventually I may start advertising there or maybe try to sell some photos. Maybe. When (if ever) I become convinced it isn’t a waste of time.
Have a nice weekend everyone. The nice weather is finally coming in many places. Hopefully the storms have passed and some of us can enjoy life a bit more again.

I agree with you about blogging. As with everything else after you have done it for a while, you do get more and more creative. But every once in a while, you do have to let go!
Right! But what does that mean Jawa at compare prices. It means to me that you are one of those guys who make seemingly meaningful statements that mean nothing. In other words it’s just spam dressed up to go out.
You own the blog, if don’t like the comments or do not think they are genuine, please feel free to delete it. Sorry, if I offended you.
Yes David I totally agree with time I found the same thing regarding time spent put into a blog and how one’s creativity grows. New ideas keep coming and the moment there is not enough time to implement them all!
I totally forgot you had a Nikon D70 (now I remember reading about it in a previous post too) anyhow we got the Nikon D80 and hence I can relate to your camera - they are awesome!!!! I know the Nikon D90 is coming out at the end of the month, but the D80 as the D70 I am sure can do more than I could ever imagine.
Well have a great weekend, it is supposed to be nice here too
Evitas last blog post..Vegetarian Recipe: Rice and White Bean Vegetable Medley
We are going out to a party now. Thanks Evita. Jawa why don’t you try to express yourself a little bit more. You might be a real person but you have to give a little bit more to become something more.
David,
Yes, I am a really person! Started blogging very recently, and am still learning the ropes and, I guess etiquette. Found your blog on my journeys on the web. I found I could relate to it in some way. I think your reaction was perfectly valid now that I see it from your perspective given all the spam comments and track backs that I see on my blog.
Hope you have a great time at the party. I will drop by once a while to check your blog. I know I have a lot to learn.
Jawa
Thanks Jawa. I appreciate your comments.
Hello David,
Blogging is really a cool way to relate your true self to the world. I really enjoy blogging also. The only thing that bothers me at times is when you put hours into a photo or a blog and 40 or 50 people stop by, but only 1 person comments on it.
I am sorry that I have not been getting by your blog everyday, but this astrophotography hobby is really taking a lot of my time up. I went out the other night and took 70 shots of 7 objects; 10 per object. By the time I stacked all of the images and processed them to my satisfaction, I had spent over 10 hours on 7 finished pictures.
I am sure you are aware that this is one of the best times of the year for landscape imaging. Fall is an awesome time to capture many different colors, and your part of the country holds a lot promise for fall colors.
Take care and keep blogging away.
Todd
The comment ratio used to bother me too. I used to write about it here. But I don’t think too much about it anymore. There have been about 1300 comments so far on this blog. And that’s pretty cool. I look at the comment cloud on the sidebar and all the names on it. Blogging makes me happy. That’s the main thing.
