The Future of Wordpress/ NewsLink Briefs Tries To Be Better/ Looking For the Naughty Librarian

It’s football season again and Vladimir Prelovac makes some good points about going “wide and deep”.  Except that he is talking about Wordpress.  His thoughts are interesting and his concern obvious as we face another WP upgrade this week.   And then there is the “rules changing version 2.7″ just down the road.

I have just returned from our local library which I am ashamed to say I have never visited in eight years since moving to this area.  I was looking for Craig Ferguson’s “Naughty Librarian”.

And I didn’t find her but not to worry.  The library itself was impressive enough.  I grew up in a town that had a library consisting of two rooms connected by a reception desk and some shelves of books.   THIS affair is amazing with separate buildings for children, teens and adults.  Well maybe that’s stretching the architecture a bit too far.   But it is huge and has all these very comfortable looking nooks and crannies.

Then it has many, many computers and to top things off it has a coffee bar!  Not Starbucks but still pretty nice.  And I have already noted in a recent post all the freebies you get  IN YOUR OWN HOME just by typing in your library card number.

I have decided to raise the bar a  little  over at my other blog NewsLink Briefs and try to write about real poets and their poetry.  No more photos of movie stars!  Well maybe just Charlize and a few others.  But I found that although they attracted a lot of readers I just didn’t give a hoot.   Blogging only feels worthwhile to me if it involves something I have created for the most part.

I am going to highlight some photographers there however.  And I have already started to do this.  It seems to make people happy and they deserve to be happy.  They do excellent work.  But I discovered it also makes me feel more responsible for the level of content in the blog.   ALL of it.    I’m trying to live up to their standards now!   So no more stupid videos of people falling off swings and other such nonsense.

Can I write intelligently about poetry or some other topic?  I don’t know.  But I guess we will find out.

I really related to this post David because I too tried a couple of somewhat goofy posts and they drew a lot people but I wasn’t there. They weren’t really me, and not that I wouldn’t do humor or something goofy as I can be a very goofy person, but I feel I am starting to find my real voice and it is a voice from my heart that wants to speak more honestly and truly. I feel more rewarded inside. Even if I have fewer readers, they a genuine and needing to share heart to heart. I like that. So I like this shift in you. It’s like getting to see more of David without having to wade through the movie stars. LOL Because I never was a movie star fan, it takes more that that to impress me. And the you that you share through your poems and photos and personal ramblings impresses me. I love people who dare to be who they really are. Like your profile: it’s one of THE most astounding profiles I’ve read. It drew me immediately into your site. Like your poetry that just grips the heart and makes us feel and hence better know who WE are too. Or like your warm humor or humble ways that touch us and make us chuckle. You are a great writer and deep thinker with a warm heart.
