Today I am planning on heading up to Lynchburg to see the children and the grandchildren.  Someone said it is going to be a very nice weekend around these parts.  So it should be good.  Maybe I can convince everyone to take a ride up to the Blue Ridge Mountains for some fun and photos.
Tomorrow there is something called the Watermelon Festival here in town down on Cary Street.  People keep telling me about this.  I should go down there and take some photos.
Sounds good!  But I am a little paranoid around large numbers of people especially when I am doing something that some may consider “invading their space”.
“Hey dude!  Did you just take my picture?  Did I tell you that you could do that?”
Well no.  Actually you didn’t say anything about it.  But it’s not really a photo of you.  It’s more of a generic photo of a person.
“It’s a what?  That looks like a pretty good camera.  I bet you can see the tatoo on my eyelid with that thing.  My parole officer would be very interested to know it was me down here.  You aren’t going to put that thing on the internet are you?”
The internet?  What?  No of course not.  I don’t even know what that is.  I mean it has something to do with computers?  Or maybe it’s a drink they make at that bar over there.
“Say.  Wait a minute. You wouldn’t be trying to blow smoke here would you pal?  Because I really don’t like it when people take my picture and then tell me I look like Genesis.   That’s really pretty nineties Dude.”
Okay. Okay.  Well I could dilate it right here.  See?  Here’s the pic and now it’s gone.  So can you back up a little.  I’m getting a chill standing here in the shade.
“Hahaha.  You’re a pretty funny guy aren’t you.  Why don’t we go down to that bar and have a drink.  We can get on a buzz or maybe even the internet.  Hahahaha.”
Great.  I would really love to do that.  But I’m meeting my wife here in a few minutes.  She’s getting off work and she wants me to take a photo of her and her police dog.
“Sure thing guy.  Well you have a great day.”
That’s the way it goes in my mind anyway.  I’m doing a therapy program where my paranoid fantasies have a happy ending.  They say if you practice for ten weeks you can  really make some progress.

I don’t know.  In any case I am looking forward to visiting the kids today in Lynchburg.  We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves.  One day at a time.

I was a little cautious about getting any bikers pissed off in Sturgis on our vacation this week.

You take good photos and you must have taken some beautiful pictures on the watermelon festival. By the way do enjoy your vacation in Lynchburg with your children and grandchildren. It should be the happiest moment with family together.

Thank you. It was a great weekend. I need to post about our exciting safari adventure with me in the back seat with two little kids while the animals went by the open doors to the minivan.

That’s good Todd. You really want to be sensitive about sticking a camera in someone’s comfort zone. Or at least I need to be.
