Thursday Evening/ Thoughts About Blogging
If you are a blogger do you find yourself asking yourself “Why do I do this?” every so often. Blogging requires so much time and effort it is only fitting that we make sure occasionally that there is a reason for doing it.
Because sometimes we forget why we do things. Or the reason although remembered is no longer valid. We just keep on going down the road day after day.
We are creatures of habit. And I wonder where that expression came from because we don’t normally consider ourselves to be “creatures” of any kind. Do we?
Maybe I shouldn’t generalize here. Or speak for others.
So I was asking myself this question tonight and here is the answer I got:
I blog because I enjoy writing and taking photos. I enjoy putting the photos up where they can be seen. And if one or two people read what I have written or enjoy a photo it makes me happy. Multiples of one or two make me even more happy.
And I have to say that it is the technology that does most of the work. The Nikon D70 takes amazing photos sometimes. And Wordpress has an amazing blogging system.
I was sitting under a tree recently and blogging. The words were going into the laptop and then out again to another place. This is such an amazing thing. Sure the technology has been around since Marconi. Different kinds of waves travel through the air. Big deal.

But to get everything to work together is pretty good in my book. The image is grabbed by the camera and duplicated in exquisite detail. Then it goes into the computer. Then it goes around the world and into another computer. And then you see it. Perhaps you respond and the whole circus heads back in the opposite direction.
And all of this is happening millions of times per second.
Pretty cool. I am sure that blogging will change radically in the coming years. But it will always involve writing and taking photos. Marketing strategies will change a lot. But we will always need to communicate with each other in the quickest and easiest way possible.
Why do you blog? What is the essential thing that drives you back to the computer day after day?

So true. I don’t consider myself either a writer or a photographer, but I enjoy doing both. The computer has brought these two together for me, and I hope to embrace these new-found talents as I go further along in life. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice. It’s good to know others are feeling passionate about these things.
