Virginia Is For Families

So this is day two of our trip to DC and this morning was not fun and games. We went to the Holocaust Museum. Beth had been there before but it was my first time and I was not happy once I got there. When you go in the door it is just like security at an airport and I was setting off buzzers as usual. So I got pulled aside for individual attention. The guard wanted me to leave my expensive camera there and go back through the deal. Was he going to buy me a new camera if someone picked it up? I don’t think so. So I ended up losing my temper and telling him forget it I was leaving. It’s not like an airport in the sense that you don’t have to get to your destination. There is cool air outside and sunlight. Inside there are crowds of people in dark hot spaces watching insane videos of murderous thugs doing unspeakable things.

So at that point he became more conciliatory and actually took my coat back through security while I waited for him. We went through the exhibits and saw actual stuff from the holocaust. It was awful and when we got out I needed to go see Abe and talk to him for awhile.

So off we went to the Lincoln Memorial. On the way we went by the Washington Monument and the new WW Two Memorial. And after all of that we were ready to go back to the hotel for a rest. Fortunately we found a cab driver who was cheerful and took us back to the hotel for nine dollars! Nine dollars is like fifty cents around here and the Lincoln Memorial is not near the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

God Bless the little guy. I want to post some photos and then hope to rest awhile before going out to dinner with Beth and Kurt. At some point during this vacation I am going to need to go by a hospital for dual hip replacements and a back operation. I’m thinking titanium parts might be good and maybe they could throw in some Midas shock absorbers as well. Those babies are guaranteed for life.
