We really had a nice time at Colonial Williamsburg and I haven’t had time to post many photos. So here is a slide show that captures some of the things that caught my eye as we roamed about the homes and antiques from long ago. This is also where I messed up my back. I will not be forgetting my magnets in the future! I really enjoyed the British Governor’s castle very much. The detailed and expensive wood and the weapons really turned me on (!!) Down the other end of the road is a large building of a much different nature. It housed the first bicameral legislature in the New World. Patrick Henry and the other young guys (in their twenties) hung out here and argued the issues of the day in the lower house. The Governor sat upstairs and he had the power to send them home whenever they started to bother him. So it wasn’t exactly democracy in action but it was a start.

In any case here are some photos from our lovely day. I took one of Beth that is so good and I would love to share it with you. Unfortunately it is not possible because she would not be happy if I did. But I did take mucho photos and you can see them here in about a minute without hurting your back one little bit. Click on the slide show for a full screen experience. I have a bunch more photos of Williamsburg but how many can you put in one slide show? The rest will have to wait for another time.

  1. I love that blue rug. The colors are so saturated. I’m surprised to see bright pink and blue and yellow gold. I guess I would expect muted colors. I don’t guess that rug is for sale.
