Let’s go with a brief review of last night’s show.
Syesha sang Got To Get You Into My Life and the first verse was totally off key. She got into the second verse and managed to find the right key but by that time I was under the coffee table with my hands over my ears. Syesha.
Thanks for the memories.
Chikezie sang She’s A Woman and gave a totally original and very energized performance. How to go dude! Ryan started jumping around the stage like Bob Barker on crack after the performance. He rubbed Chikezie’s head a few times and then spent about a minute trying to get whatever was on there off of his hands.
Go back to sleep Ryan.
Jason sang If I Fell and was his soulful self throughout but should not have changed the melody. There are some things you don’t mess with and this is one of them.
Carly sang Come Together and did an excellent job. Of course she has been singing it in front of an audience for some time and thus has an advantage over some of the others. Do we care?
No.
David Cook sang Eleanor Rigby and was flat in the beginning. His affect didn’t fit the song. “Look at all the lonely people (smile)” Do they have a psychiatrist on this show? Could he maybe take a look at Ryan after he talks with David?
Brooke sang Let It Be and was alright but not outstanding. She needed to build the song more and use that fine raspy voice to greater advantage.
David Hernandez sand I Saw Her Standing There but the arrangement was poor. It was more of a band song than a singer’s song. A poor choice for David but he was distracted by all the calls for his removal and eventual dismemberment.
Amanda sang You Can’t Do That and did alright although she had some pitch problems in the middle. She seems one dimensional to date and need to successfully change something up. Also she never seems disturbed or excited and leaves us wondering if she is overconfident.
Michael sang Across The Universe and did a fine job. This was his best outing since the auditions.
Kristy sang Eight Days A Week and she also had pitch problems and a poor arrangement. Maybe she needs to go the country song route but this was a bad time to go there.
David Archuleta sang We Can Work It Out but he didn’t. He forgot the words and he lost his way. He looked every bit as young as his seventeen years. David sang Imagine like a pro but he has been singing it since he was thirteen. Watching him makes me appreciate Jordin Sparks who was also seventeen even more. She never had a night like this. Of course girls mature faster than boys.
David. You are going to have to learn to perform new material. And we wonder if you can do it.
How the mighty have fallen.
Stay tuned for the results tonight.
Update / David Hernandez was the unlucky contestant tonight. It seems unfair in a way. The publicity about his past may have resulted in his loss. But the fact is that he didn’t sing well.
Welcome back to the real world David.
