It was a mist filled morning on the James River and I had the opportunity to spend some time walking along it. And I came away with a greater appreciation for conditions that do not involve sunlight. Mist or fog can be fun too. Shapes hide within. And the birds seemed not to notice as they were busy with their daily activities. As always you can click on the slide show for a monitor wide view. It take about five or six hours to take these photos and then edit them and do this post. But it is something I enjoy doing a great deal. It is a fun way to spend Saturday morning. While I was down by the river I realized that on Saturday am the road that runs next to it is taken over by people who are out to get some exercise. They jog or ride their bicycles and pretty much take over the road. There are signs that slow the cars down to 15 mph and other signs that note the road is for this purpose.
It’s all the way it should be and there is a Starbucks nearby for all of us to refill our fuel tank when we need to do it.

Hi Deb. Thanks for reviewing this in SU! I appreciate it. The temperature started out around 35 degrees when I went out this morning. That was around dawn which happened just before 7 am. Of course you couldn’t tell when the sun came up. It was much different from recent trips that I have documented here. And it was an interesting change. I’m glad it happened but we are looking for the sun after several days of this stuff.
Hi!
I want to live along the James River.
Currently I live along the Hudson River in upstate NY.
Tired of the cold & snow…need warmer weather, longer summers.
Do you know how many months of the year are conducive to kayaking on the James?
Thank you!
BJ
