- There Will Be No Mosquitoes In Heaven/ The Spiritual Side Of Things
I have been thinking lately about heaven. And hoping that I will see it someday with my children and the rest of my family. Perhaps even a few close friends can join us and come by to share refreshments once in awhile. But I definitely am down for the idea that heaven exists. And someday most of us will discover it’s a wonderful place. And it’s not just clouds. Clouds are boring after awhile. I know because I try to photograph them all the time.
Heaven is a more colorful place than this. Heaven is full of vibrant colors. There are trees in heaven that are more colorful by far than the ones I photographed last fall. And there are no tree diseases in heaven. Apples, for example, are always smooth and shiny. Where did the worms go? I don’t know but I am afraid they are not in heaven.
That means there are a couple of guys I know who are not going to make it unless they change their ways. But they don’t seem to care very much about an after life. Which is not too smart because they live like they want to get there tomorrow. They are full of contradictions these guys.
But there are no worms in heaven. And there are no diseases either. No germs. No germicidal agents. No cow pies. No mosquitos.
I was really a very strange child. I can remember one time just doing one of those angel things on our front lawn. Except there was no snow. There was just grass. And there were plenty of mosquitos. For some reason that I cannot recall I decided to just zone out while looking up at the sky. And of course the mosquitoes could not believe their luck. Here was at least six pints of exquisite red juice and someone who wasn’t going to fight back. It was about as close to heaven as a mosquito is ever going to get because every juice holder in the universe is willing to play tag when a mosquito invites himself to dinner.
But there will be no mosquitoes in heaven.
The only problem with heaven as far as I can see is that it is not the end of the road. I believe pretty firmly in reincarnation. So that means we do have a nice period of rest and relaxation. Someone and I think it might be Sylvia Browne says it is around fifty years or so. And then we “Come on down” again as Bob Barker would say. It makes sense that it would be about fifty years because for most of human history people lived about that long. So maybe a balance exists between this side and the other side. Its 50/50 so to speak.
I have somewhat neglected the Spiritual category in this blog up until now. But I have seen the light. StumbleUpon was actually distracting me from doing things to go forward. SU is a sugar high and does not help actual blog growth. And that’s the way they want it. It’s a social network that is delightful based on the way in unearths great websites and posts. But its purpose is not to make your blog grow unless maybe you find ideas that help your blog grow when you press the stumble button.
So I have this challenge before me. I really enjoy beautiful things. Whether they are plants or animals or people doesn’t really matter much to me. It is beauty I am pursuing with some vigor. Even my rudimentary efforts to create poems is (are?) a chase towards a beautiful moment. The challenge is to somehow bring the spiritual together with the terrestrial and create a meaningful whole.
This could take awhile. Meanwhile I beg you once again to do the RSS thing. I have this idea that Google is tricking me into believing I actually have readers. Only an increase in RSS numbers will dash this notion.
So heaven is real. And we probably don’t spend enough time imagining what it will be like. But someone who is very, very spiritual has written about it. And so I plan to share his words with you. In fact I plan to explore the spiritual side of things at least twice per week for the foreseeable future. And hopefully readers will have something to say about it.
You don’t want to miss that! So grab the RSS!
