I must disagree with those bloggers who spend their days sharing all sorts of information with us on one issue.
If you enjoy blogging you must do what you enjoy doing. Don’t spend your time trying to figure out what your readers like. Just take it one day at a time and discover what lies within your heart and mind.
If blogging is a money making venture things are different and you should work daily at discovering what your readers need.
But if you are doing it for your own pleasure you should focus on doing what you enjoy. And you will find readers along the way who enjoy the same sorts of things.
You will become better at doing it over time and you will attract more readers. Everyone will be happy.
Readers come and go. If you spend your time pleasing them and they decide to go on down the road what do you have?
Enjoy what you do. Don’t spend time writing about something that will obviously interest no one but you. Reach out to people. But don’t leave yourself behind when you do.
We spend far too many hours on this earth trying to figure out what others want us to do. The internet provides us all with the means to enjoy ourselves by learning about various things in a participatory way. Take advantage of this opportunity to discover things about yourself. And enjoy yourself as well.
Update: I would like to thank Bernie for his excellent response to this post. He makes some excellent points and I believe he writes well. He is also a great photographer. And now that we see how the Comment Luv plugin works we can all go look at his photo of an Iris.
Before Bernie commented here I was worried that this plugin might actually frighten people away. It has been so long since anyone left a comment. And there is a weird little voice in my head that says “What did you expect? You have no loyal visitors. If you want one you should go buy a German Shepherd and teach him to read” , You see what I put up with in here?
So now I can respond to this malicious voice: “Bernie is far better than a German Shepherd AND he already knows how to read. He’s a very busy guy but he still managed to comment here. Go torment someone else.”
Several people have said recently that they are surprised by how much stuff is here. But maybe it is just the way I have organized it. You can be anywhere in the subject matter here within a few seconds and following a logical and sometimes coherent trail.
Or maybe there is a lot of stuff here. I know that I enjoy blogging very much and it helps my RLS. That’s Restless Legs Syndrome for those who are not familiar with the term.
Also (and this is very important) I don’t have a full-time job like Bernie or many of you. This is my “job”. I don’t get paid for doing it in terms of cash. But I do receive very much in terms of happiness and satisfaction. The poetry I have written here continues to attract more and more readers as Google spreads the word. “Love Poem” is a popular keyword and readers have recently started finding my work by popping it into their search engines.
Money cannot buy something like that. Thanks Bernie. And thanks everyone.

I absolutely hate writing David and have no skill with it at all, on the other hand you do have a way with words and seem to be able to keep your creative juices flowing, I don’t know how you are able to keep this pace up I can’t keep up reading let alone writing your blog
I do agree about the one-dimensional blogs though, I see so many just look at my tech and getting more readers blogs it gets a little monotonous after a while, I definitely enjoy the ones that add a little zing to life and can brighten your day
