Rotating Ruminations/ Patriots vs Green Bay

I was out again at dawn this morning taking pictures. The way I figure it I might as well go out as long as I am awake. And my eyeballs pop open like a bird at around four or five am. “Why is that?” you might ask. Well I take medication for my restless legs. And then I take medication to prevent dysthymia. That’s depression for those of you who are not familiar with the term. They used to think it was just a minor annoyance kind of depression. But now I believe they understand it can be the “Time to learn how to fly without wings” kind of depression. Anyway these wonderful medications saturate the brain with Dopamine and Epinephrine and away we go. At least that’s the way I understand it. I’m not a doctor. And I wouldn’t stay in a Holiday Inn if they paid me to stay there.

So out we went this morning and we took up a position on a hill overlooking downtown Richmond and the James River (again). It was a lovely spot and quite relaxing unlike the one yesterday where cars were flying by my asphalt at sixty miles per hour.

And as we reached the joyous moment when the sun peaked over the hill and into our little city the battery in my Nikon D-70 started to give out. Because I forgot to charge the thing last night. Because I was watching my New England Patriots whip up on somebody once again.

Fortunately I was able to squeeze enough juice out of my beloved camera to get the shots. I kept turning it off for a few seconds and this seemed to revive it for a few more pics. I looked up at one point and there was another guy about fifty feet away with a camera and a tripod! What a surpise that was! He looked very professional too. Except that he left before the sun peaked over the hill. And I thought “Man, that’s odd. Why did he leave before the light show?” Maybe another pro photographer would understand this better than me. In any case I looked up and he was gone. Then this beautiful orange ball rose over the city.

I was incredibly happy. It was about 35 degrees out and very clear. None of the usual stuff that hangs in the air was anywhere to be seen . The clouds turned all these amazing colors like cut glass. I would show you some of the shots.

But the battery is upstairs recharging!

It’s thumb twiddling time. Meanwhile it looks to me like it’s going to be the Packers and the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Unless they have to play before then but I don’t think they do. Green Bay showed what a great team it is yesterday. Their pass defense is awesome. Their quarterback is awesome. They are probably going to beat my Patriots. Because there is something going on with their passing game. Coach better have a really good bag of tricks ready. Just like last night. That fake pass thing was awesome.

Go Patriots. Go Giants (for now).
