Virginia Is For Families

One of the things that Yogananda often wrote about was the idea that life is just a dream. The only difference from the rest of us being that he actually experienced it as a dream. And he wrote some fascinating accounts of his experiences.

In one account he suddenly found himself storming a beach somewhere with a number of other brave young soldiers. It was during WW1 and as he meditated his consciousness was transferred to this battle where a stray bullet struck him down. He now felt himself dying as he lay on this beach when just as suddenly he found himself back in the attic room in his father’s home in India.

And then he writes about all of this being like a motion picture which at that time was a relatively new technology. But it suited his purposes in trying to relate to the rest of us what is actually going on out here.

A second time Yogananda found himself on the beach in the war zone. And he experienced the young officer’s body becoming numb as he passed away. Then he was back in his fathers’ home meditating once again and actually pinching himself with joy that he still had a healthy body!

Meditation can take us to some pretty amazing places.
