“Ever new joy is God. He is inexhaustible; as you continue your meditations during the years, He will beguile you with an infinite ingenuity. Devotees like yourself who have found the way to God never dream of exchanging Him for any other happiness; He is seductive beyond thought of competition. ”

On this day I am grateful for the book Autobiography of a Yogi which is mentioned on the front page of this blog every day and its author Paramahansa Yogananda. He came to America in the early 20th century and spent many years teaching and writing. I found him during my time at Boston University in a book stall. And he saved me from a desperate situation (my life). This past fall my son, Zachary, studied him in his religion class at VCU.

“Gone forever: fitful, flickering shadows of mortal memory;

Spotless is my mental sky–below, ahead, and high above;

Eternity and I, one united ray.

A tiny bubble of laughter, I

Am become the Sea of Mirth Itself.”

Everyone should pick up this book and read it. It describes an incredible spiritual journey.

  1. Hello David,

    I just stopped by to thank you again for joining me for The Twelve Days of Gratitude and for adding your own special flair to it.

    I haven’t read Autobiography of a Yogi, but Dr. Wayne Dyer quotes him often and refers to him as one of his teachers. Isn’t it wonderful that we have such teachings available to us to help us on our spiritual journeys.

    Thank you Susan. I enjoyed doing it and plan to continue once in awhile to write about this subject. It really is a powerful exercise.
