I can remember when I was a small boy have a toy train. It was the coolest thing. It even smelled special. The transformer was a tiny box and it used to overheat from constant use thus creating all kinds of odd and interesting odors. And the train could go around the track forever as far as I was concerned. I was willing to stay there next to it at least until high school was over.

If I had seen this place with its huge layouts and large number of trains I would have been overjoyed. Even the transformer was big! But it didn’t give off any interesting smells. Darn!

  2. This brings back memories, had an uncle who had an extensive set up in his basement, it was always neat to see him and his trains.

I had a single train set I loved when a kid and had it for years. I took care of my toys, unlike some kids who’d bang it against other toys. It wasn’t an elaborate set but setting up the tracks and lining up the cars was a simple childhood joy. Your post takes me back to that time.
