Live Simply

There was a time
I felt this way
Wore well worn sandals
And slept in the hay.
Never bothered with medicine
And scratched til it hurt
Never thought about cleansers
And lived near the dirt.
Then one day it happened
A sweet child was born
And her skin shone like morning
upon a calm sea.
A love child incarnate
For poor visioned me.
But she cried for the doctor
Her ears did soon burn
And I was encumbered
With lessons to learn.
Now she is much older
Then I was back then
And always much wiser
As you can imagine.
Her children are glorious
They need not a thing
And I am forgiven
For losing her wings.

This poem also moved me to tears. What remarkable writing. I was again deeply seared by the poignancy of thought and feeling, right to the heart of things. It is so exquisitely beautiful, filled with honesty, love, sadness and forgiveness. Breathtaking.
This photo with this poem is a gut gripper. It also reminds me of Andrew Wyeth’s paintings. I grew up in Maine and saw a lot of his work at one time. In fact the photo looks like a painting. VERY well done.
