I enjoy going down by the James River just to take some photos or walk around and experience nature. Here we are right in th middle of Richmond and it feels like being out in the country. There are always folks around fishing or going out in kayaks to enjoy the class five rapids.
I thought about getting a kayak and having someone take me far up the river. I could spend the day floating back down to this point. It’s one of those things where you have sort of an idyllic picture in your head. But it’s not clear how that would actually pan out in reality. Wouldn’t you get cramped in the small boat? What if it rained? What if there was lightening? What if a killer rabbit saw you from the shore? What if you hit a rock and the boat turned over?
So many questions. This may remain a theoretical activity for the rest of my days. Unless someone invites us to come along and they have all the equipment. A large group might work out alright. I would have to put my cell phone in a plastic bag and bring it along. And someone else would have to deal with any angry rabbits that showed up. You probably think I am making this last part up. But I want you to see something that Ron Dubin saw and recorded for posterity. You can read all about his adventures recently in Bolivia at TheBlog@RTD13.

Nice photo David, great perspective. And thanks for the nod.

Thanks Mark. Sounds cool. We have some great rapids in this city. What I really need to do is get down there when some expert kayakers are in town and take some photos of them navigating the river.
