Bad Neighborhood Is Working

Awhile back I put up a link to the Bad Neighborhood program on my Blogroll/Blogroll page. And it has been doing a fine job. I hope you are all using it. One of the things it notices is the number of links in a weblog. If there are over one hundred it will put up one red line. If there are over two hundred it will put up two red lines and so forth. Some of the folks I link to have three red lines up there. Bad neighborhood is not saying that is alarming. But it is saying that numerous links may be an indication of a link farm to Google. So I have been eliminating some of these connections and it seems to be helping my Search Engine Optimization. More terms are showing up. And I am not saying I would sever a link to a dear friend if three red lines showed up. But if someone made one comment last August and never returned why should I be carrying that around? And this is where the improvement has been made. Some folks are pretty clever about it. You put the name that comes up in Bad Neighborhood in the search box next to Comments. And something comes up like “I really like your blog and plan to come back here often and spend time. ” You respond “That’s great. See you tomorrow” and forget about it. Tomorrow never comes and your Google score is being impacted by this person and his or her 312 links. I’m not saying there was any mischief involved here. But it doesn’t make sense to carry it around. And I DID find one nefarious fellow who left a comment and said something like “Yes, that is too bad what you are saying and I hope it isn’t giving you a headache.” Bad Neighborhood found about eight links to Bayer Aspirin ads with that one and they were all Questionable Links. Questionable Links are worse than the red lines from what I can see.

I made the mistake of putting a title up on a surfer pic that suggested something bad to Google. I called it Se*y Surfer and you would have thought I had downloaded Playb*y Magaz*ne. That is a questionable link and even though I changed the title it is still coming up. I can’t get rid of it! A good blogging friend has a photo entitled P*nsy P*rn. Same deal with that one! I am telling you that the Spider Monkeys are on the case when it comes to this stuff!

At least I got rid of some comments that were doing no good. And you have to be a little suspicious of someone who gets all happy and comments on your weblog only to go away and never return. Don’t leave your “link f**m” with me!!

So I have a lot fewer red lines and just the two questionable links that are going nowhere. And more keywords are coming through thanks to All In One SEO Pack and Bad Neighborhood. I recommend them both. And that’s about as much as you will get out of me regarding SEO improvement. Carry on!

Here’s what the author has to say about his creation…..
