Virginia Is For Families

Jordin’s first CD since winning American Idol is going to be here in eleven days. And I do mean “here” as in “on this desk and in this CD player”. Everybody knows I am a big fan of Jordin since she started her run on AI last spring. I particularly liked the way she tried to argue with Simon a few times after he gave her one of his heavy handed judgments . No one else has ever done that on the show. She has spirit and she’s not afraid to be different.

Here’s another little something about her and what she might like in a boyfriend. First of all he better be happy just hanging around her because this is one prize that’s going to have a long shelf life. Dad was in the NFL and he can run really fast even today. And there are rules in this family. Jordin believes that “True Love Waits”. So the guy had better get himself a ring saying something like “I Can Wait” or “I Will Wait and Like It” or “Jordin May Cause Me Permanent Damage But I’ll Still Be Smiling”.

Jordin also states that she would like a guy who can make her laugh and has nice teeth. I’m not sure why the nice teeth is such an important issue right out of the box. How many cavities are we talking about? One? Two? Four but only with perfect alignment?

And he needs to be able to make her laugh because she loves to laugh. I would not worry about that part too much. Jordin thinks just about anything is funny. Or in a pinch our lucky guy could just carry around a photo of Ryan Seacrest. That is guaranteed to keep her in stitches for a long time.

And finally he could be athletic, sing and play an instrument. There are a lot of guys out there who can sing and play the guitar out there. But we don’t want to hook her up with a rock musician for the obvious reason that he couldn’t wear the matching ring. Athletic? There are lots of them out there too but they usually have at least one tooth knocked out by the time they are eighteen.

It’s going to be tough. But I sincerely hope she finds someone who makes her happy and is not a complete Bozo. Those are my only qualifications and that may be pretty difficult to find too.

We love you Jordin! Don’t worry. The right person will come along some day and in the meantime you will save yourself a lot of trouble by avoiding anybody even remotely involved with the entertainment industry. And America will stand behind you on that one too!
