Waiting For D/ Part V
Table of contents for The Alien Invasion
As you know the aliens left with Dr. D last night. And they promised to send in autumn as a parting gift. Maybe they flipped the wrong switch because it didn’t get any colder today but it did pour down rain most of the day. I can’t complain too much because we are having drought like conditions here in Virginia. Beth flew to New York for the weekend so it’s pretty quiet around here. No aliens. No brother. No wife. Just a guy and his Andrea Bocelli cd’s. And his HDTV with the World Series and the Boston Red Sox winning two games to zip.
Maybe things aren’t so bad after all.
I am still a little concerned about the President however. Apparently he has decided he likes outer space and he particularly likes flying speed of light alien vehicles. You really can’t take the let’s fly mentality out of an old jet pilot. D told me this morning that he was giving orders to the crew and somehow convinced them to let him take the controls of a scout craft. The next thing anybody knew he was gone. He flew out the hatch and headed towards home.
I hope he manages to communicate with somebody before he tries to land or he might get a laser beam up his Presidential Seal. We have been trying to shoot down our alien buddies for about thirty years now and every once in awhile they zig when they should have zagged . And then they discover we are not quite as helpless as we look most of the time. It’s one thing to surround some poor guy when he’s sleeping in bed and shoot him full of alien tranquilizers. And it’s quite another to meet up with him when he has his 21st century weaponry strapped on.
Well, I’m sure Dr. D and his friends will be back soon now that they have lost the President. Maybe Edgar can go into a trance and figure out where he is. How many days until Halloween? I just have a feeling things are going to reach some sort of resolution by the end of the month. Beth called and said that the moon looks beautiful up above the clouds. I should have warned her to watch out for a guy in a Presidential jacket trying to fly a craft that’s about five hundred years from being invented around here.
It’s the harvest season. What will we be bringing in this year? Sing to me Andrea. Share with us all the joys and sorrows found in the greatest music in the world. Help me to understand what is happening as we spin through space on a wobbly planet that seems just a bit upset with us and is thinking about throwing one very wild party.
