Dr. D Sends A Message/ Part IV

It has been very quiet around here since Dr. Davidlind left with his new alien friends. I can only imagine where he is now. After he left I went out to the workshop and discovered that they had installed some sort of transmitting device on the roof. And they also left this tiny cube on the workbench. It gives off a greenish light and when I put it next to my computer monitor I start to get a picture of…

Wait. Dr. D is that you? You look a bit hazy but it must be you. Where are you?

“About six light years away and enjoying every minute of it. Edgar has been explaining how things are going to go in the next few years. It has been very enlightening. And POTUS is here too!”

How’s the President?

“He is doing well. He gets along well with Cayce. George was pretty upset when I first arrived but after awhile he settled down. He doesn’t want to believe any of the stuff about the earth’s magnetic pole changing locations. He says he doesn’t believe in polls. Edgar tried to tell him this was much more important than any survey but he just laughed. Now he’s jogging around the ship and trying to shake hands with everybody.”

Well, I’m glad he’s alright. It’s strange but there hasn’t been any announcement yet about what happened last night. And nobody seems too concerned. It’s almost as if he was visiting a foriegn country or his ranch. Wasn’t anybody watching his speech last night? Didn’t they see him go out the window?

“They saw it but they have no way of understanding what happened. Most of those who watched felt that he had finished talking and was going out for some fresh air. Some felt that it must have been Laura outside waving at him.”

So what’s going to happen now?

“Our hosts want to sit down and talk about a transition plan. Edgar is talking to George about reincarnation. And the President wants to know if there is a racquetball court on the ship. Edgar has been telling him that he was Andrew Jackson in a previous life. He doesn’t believe it but he’s willing to consider the possibility that Dick Cheney was a prairie dog in western Wyoming.”

Well, I hope you can all sit down and work something out. I need you back here and sooner or later someone is going to notice that something has happened.

“I think we will be back in a few days. Our hosts seem nervous. They aren’t used to someone slapping them on the back and they aren’t really interested in stories about Babs and Pappy and oil drilling in Texas. They always like to be on earth during Halloween in any case. They get a kick out of going up to people’s houses and getting candy. It’s pretty much the only time people are happy to see them.”

Talk to them. Ask them what we should do. Ask Edgar. He should know something.

“I will. But I must go now. I will talk to you again tomorrow.”
