Alone/ Part VI
Table of contents for 2/Alien Invasions
Is this really happening? I was talking with Davidlind earlier and he gave me some shocking news. The President tried to land his alien craft on the Potomac and nearly crashed landed. Apparently the VP has put out an alert to shoot first and ask about it later. So now we have one very unhappy guy heading back to the moon with fringed hair and a new plan. He wants to start a colony and watch whatever is going to happen down here from up there.
Edgar is not being helpful. He is just not all here. In plain terms he is dead. And he has been deceased for over fifty years. The guy was always going over to the other side when he was alive and finding out stuff. So now he is doing the same thing from over there. He floats around and drops in on our alien friends. He looks up Dr. D and fills his head with nonsense about alliances with distant nebulie. But at least he could tell everybody what was going on with the President. And now he has left town. Dr. D says he wants to talk to the VP and get him to stop shooting at his boss.
Good luck. It’s still raining here. I’m going out to the workshop this morning and see about building some shelves. You can never have enough shelves. I may stay out there all day and all night. It smells good with all the wood and varnish laying around. Beth is having fun some place with her friends. The dogs are sad because she is gone. At moments like this I am able to tune out the world for a little while. It’s a pleasant feeling.
And it is a far different feeling from one that can paralyze you as you realize you are being watched by someone who has arrived from above and can transport you in a moment to an invisible craft. Suddenly you know that the comfortable rules that have guided you to this point are no longer important.
That feeling should be put as far away as possible. Being alone is not unpleasant. But being alone with THEM is not something most folks get used to in a moment. It takes time and it can turn your world upside down. We are not ready for that. Are we?
