Dealing With This Body / Healing Pain

Posted by David on Oct 03 2007 at 05:31 am

I woke up this morning and the pain I was experiencing yesterday is completely gone. It is so nice to begin the day feeling this way. And days like yesterday are a good reminder of how fortunate we are too live pain free most of the time. I say “we” although I do not know that you live pain free most of the time. You may have frequent pain but do not share that fact with the rest of us in blogland.

For the purposes of this post I will assume you enjoy a pain free status and fervently hope that it is so.

There will perhaps come a time when we are old and feeling various pains on a regular basis. But the fact that I have all these internal parts that have functioned well for over fifty years amazes me when I think about it. That’s a long time for something to work. My car engine will stop working long before fifty years has passed. The refrigerator will cease to function as well. The roof will need to be replaced. And I will go through at least ten lawn mowers. But the old heart and liver will still be doing their thing without any complaints.

Someday, of course, they will stop working. They will cease to do the things they have done millions of times. But I’m not too worried about that. I believe we have another body that is made out of energy. It is an astral form that is much like this body we have now. But it will not ever stop working.

You can see evidence of your astral body without too much difficulty. Hold your finger up to your face and look closely at it. You will see your finger. And you will see the space around it. But you will also see a slight aura of energy that exists in the transition between the two. If your finger should suddenly depart from the rest of you it would not look the same.

If you are used to seeing someone on film or in a photo and you see them one day in person you will notice that they look different. You are seeing their life force for the first time. It can make a surprising difference in the way they appear.

Astral bodies cannot be blown apart. They cannot be set on fire or shot. There are so many things that are routinely done to physical bodies that cannot be done to their counterparts.

It is really quite a hopeful progression in terms of the overall scheme of things. It suggests that the next world will be a lot nicer than this one. There will be a greater element of permanence. Perhaps we won’t feel so much like travelers staying at a Holiday Inn. Maybe we will begin to feel like we are home.

We can feel free to pursue the things we enjoy the most without worrying about paying the rent.

We feel sorry sometimes when someone we know departs this world. And it is very sad when the people we love leave us. But I cannot think of any other reason why it is a difficult thing. I feel like I could not live without Beth. But if she were already gone I would be hoping to go too. And we often see this happening with folks who have been happily married. I would be very sad to leave my children of course. But this is just the way things go in life.

I often think about Christopher Reeve and his wife Dana in this regard. I have no doubt that they loved each other very much. Did you know that Christopher sometimes had dinner with Robert Frost when he was growing up? He had an amazing life. Somewhere In Time is one of my favorite movies of all time. And now he is free of all the trials he had to endure. Here is an article about him and his life.

  1. I am sorry about the pain, I played a lot of sports in my youth, and the pain in my knees can be pretty tough sometime. But I know there are many more in much worse pain than I suffer. Take care.

Thank you, Bernie. It is really much better today. You remind me of my son Zachary. I am so glad he gave up football after high school. The college coaches were after him but he stuck to his guns. And now his knees are starting to feel better.
