I’m taking a little break to read some blogs that I haven’t visited in awhile and find some new ones as well. Also I’m going to go out, hopefully, and take some pictures a little later on. Play some music. I’m listening to Sogno by Andrea Bocelli right now. You can listen to him too if you would like. He has several posts throughout this blog. What an amazing artist!
If you haven’t read earlier posts here I would encourage you to go back and read them. Today’s posts may be “new” but posts written last month are not “old”. They have just been here longer. And in my own strange way I’m trying to tell a story. You don’t want to miss pieces of the story, do you? I can hear some folks in the back saying they wouldn’t mind missing the whole story! Oh, ohhh!
One of the things that has been fun this morning was listening to Jordin Sparks sing her first new song since becoming the new American Idol. They released some things after the show ended that were hastily done repeats of what she did on the show. Tattoo is new. And it has been recorded with care. For the first time ever I can hear Jordin singing several tracks one on top of the other. She seems very much in control of her voice and well rested. In fact, this is the best she has sounded since I first heard her on the show. Some people have dismissed the song because of the lyrics. Who cares about lyrics? How many songs in the history of pop music have lyrics that will stand up to scrutiny? Let’s be fair here. There are a group of people out there who can’t wait to say something critical about Jordin for various reasons. Being critical of goodness and simple virtue are a way of life in the media. It sells so have at it.
But this is a nice, simple song that is easy to listen to and includes Jordin’s wonderful voice. You could do a whole lot worse than that for a first time release. So I am going to listen to it again. And here it is in case you haven’t heard it.
Update: I listened to it several times and it definitely has a catchy tune that builds gracefully in the last third of the song. I bet it will still be playing in my head when I go out this afternoon.
