Taylor Hicks In Concert

7592b235 Taylor Hicks In Concert

Here’s a photo of Taylor Hicks taken during his recent concert here in Richmond. I posted one earlier but this one might be better. He was pretty far away and I didn’t have a tripod for obvious reasons. In fact I didn’t have a camera after they told me to put it away. I understand why they wouldn’t want guys with high powered lenses taking photos when Taylor or anybody really is up there playing. It might not be a great shot. Most of the ones I took were not good. But I’m not going to put a photo up of anything that doesn’t seem to be pretty good. Especially where Taylor is concerned. He’s a hard working guy and very cool. We loved his show. And his CD’s are on the dashboard.

This was my first experience with my camera at a concert. I guess it will probably be my last. Unless I go to work for American Idol. That would be pretty cool. I could drive the bus for Jordin Sparks when she’s on tour. And take pictures too. Let me spend some time with that fantasy this Sunday morning.

Update: It’s Monday morning and I’m still thinking about Jordin Sparks. I really fell for Jordin when she was working her way through the pack to win American Idol last season. She’s the reason I started blogging and you can see why if you check out my American Idol blog. I would take a bullet for that girl. When Beth and I went to see her in concert there was an aura about her that was very spiritual and intense. She’s going to be a great star. But more than that she’s going to be a great role model for young women. And boy can they use it. There are many reasons why I’m a fan who loves Jordin but let me share one thing so you will understand. Jordin is a sweet, charming, gorgeous and utterly unselfconscious individual. But she’s also a fighter. She is the only contestant on American Idol who ever started a debate on stage with Simon Cowell after he told her what he thought of her performance. She actually did it several times. And I’m willing to bet that when the show is over she will have been the only one to ever do it. Ever. In front of millions of people. She’s still a teen at heart and I’m sure her parents were holding their breath in the audience. I was nearly rolling off the couch with laughter.

Jordin could use a blogger who can reach out to an older audience. Because she has the potential to reach all demographics. It’s a stupendous challenge but it’s real. And I would like to help her with that. Plus I have a permit to drive a bus. This is where the optimism I have been telling you about for a couple of months now kicks in. It’s never far from the surface and it seems ridiculous at times. But it has saved my life and helped me to pretty much retire at an early age. And it’s what America is all about. Taylor knows about it and it’s in his music. We reach for the stars. But we also keep our feet on the pavement as we pound it each day. So, Jordin, I love you darlin. You need a driver slash blogger you know who to call!
