Daily Ruminations on August 15
Table of contents for 3/Writing
Two days ago I did an experiment with tags and the results are now available. Over twice as many readers tuned in to that ridiculous post. You are probably saying right now, “Which post was that? There are so many”. This post made little or no sense and was full of popular tag words. Most of them are just full of regular words. Non celebrity words. In any case we had many viewers and most likely many of them were puzzled or upset and will never come back. Because the next day we had very few visitors. So this clearly is not a good way to boost your Neilson ratings.
Personally, I thought the post was funny and it made a good point. But I can see how others might see it. And then I followed up a day later with the picture of a snake who is right up in the viewers face. He wasn’t warm or fuzzy. He was a snake and I love him because he had the courage to be himself. But others might wish he would slither off to another part of the internet.
Perhaps I have forgotten the blogging rule about remembering your audience. Maybe it’s time to write it down. I don’t know. I often forget to write things down.
We all have our ups and downs in our daily lives. Some days we do a good job. And on other days we find events doing a job on us. I try to figure out a way to do things better most every day. But I don’t have high expectations about how things will turn out. You can do this and still be an optimist. Because the optimism part motivates you to try to do better. And if things don’t work out it is still there in the morning. Disappointment is avoided. And eventually progress happens. Like rain in the middle of August.
It always rains eventually.
