Daily Blog Report V

This morning I am going to try something different. I installed ScribeFire and if all goes well this post will be written off line and published after that. If it doesn’t go well listen out your window for a strange noise coming from the east coast of the US. Our Daily Blog Report did not start out well this morning. I couldn’t remember if there was supposed to be a THE in front of the title. And this sent me off on a tangent about the perils of being fifty something. Because it really is noticeable sometimes. There are fewer brain cells and they don’t work as well. This does have a bright side. Because I read somewhere this morning (don”t remember where) that the most gorgeous actress of them all, Ingrid Bergman, once said that happiness consisted of good health and a poor memory. My health isn’t great but it could be a lot worse. And I’m pretty happy. Thanks to the math course I took in middle school we can deduce the third value based on those two.
Moving right along slowly. I went to Technorati this morning and was looking at the most favored blogs. This one was in the top fifty so you know it must be good. And, in fact, it was great! Julie’s Journal starts out up front with a big, beautiful flower. And that hits a soft spot in my heart right away. But then close to the top is an article about memory walks for Alzheimers patients. These are going to happen in October so there’s plenty of time to get involved. A very interesting article and now I’m really on board. Then I look sideways and she has the same two neighborhoods as yours truly up on the side. Blog Catalog and MyBlogLog are full of great people and help to keep me going during the night when Beth is strolling through dreamland. And then, oh, this is where I found the Ingrid Bergman quote. All the posts are tightly written and interesting. There are some entertaining videos thrown in and I’m starting to understand what a really good personal blog does.

In my mind a good personal blog or journal is not about me because it’s not a diary. And it’s not about you because I probably don’t know you. So all the posts would be pretty vague if we tried that. It’s about us. I have to guess about what might interest you. And it needs to interest me as well so I have the desire to write about it. Thus, we are brought together in a world that is not here on the physical earth but not in heaven either. Maybe it’s in a thought world out there somewhere near Bluggula. But its a very crowded place these days and as long as they keep producing electricity will probably continue to grow.

Back to Julie. Now she wants to go shopping in a North Carolina furniture store. Does this remind you of the time Beth and I went shopping for porch furniture? No? It does me. Soon it will arrive btw and we will have pictures of a completed area that is supposed to remind us of the Bahamas. But as I read more from Julie’s Journal it becomes clear that I have a ways to go. There are some similarities and that’s encouraging. And the great links are a pleasure. She turned me on to something called Bad Behavior that may help with the spam problem we have over at the Wordpress.org evil twin blog. If it works I will be very much in her debt.

She has been doing this for awhile and writes very well. So I’m definitely going back to learn more.
