What can be a happier thing for a man in his fifties than to have a loving wife, a wonderful daughter and charming granddaughters? This blog is about feeling good as we get older and right up at the top of the list of things that help in this regard are loving family relationships. I have found that it is helpful to dedicate each day to some positive force in life and so today is dedicated to the girls and women in our family.
Let me see what I can do today to make Beth’s life easier and happier. Earlier in the week we went to the Virginia Aquarium to see the otters. And she bought another stuffed otter to keep Spinner happy. This tells you something about her that I find quite wonderful. She feels that Spinner has feelings. Remember Spinner? I wrote about him and took his picture earlier in the week. Every day Beth asks me if anyone commented on Spinner. It is her top concern in this blogging enterprise. And when I tell her there are few comments and none about Spinner she gets this look on her face that says she cannot believe it. So please say something to Spinner.
I sit here this morning at the keyboard and keep an eye on Spinner and his new friend Marty. They are sitting on the bed next to Beth as she runs through some dreamy, flower strewn meadow. Probably they are with her playing together at her feet. And I am very fortunate because when she awakens she will look at me and smile as I fetch her the morning coffee. I will bring it to her and give Spinner and his new friend a hug too. And her smile will brighten even more.
This is how we feel good as we get older.
