A Blog Report/ Surfs Up

Well, that didn’t take long, did it? Ten minutes or less. The blog surfer feature made it easy in this case since it tries to gather blogs that might be interesting. Today’s blog is called The Blog@RTD13 and my hat is off right away to Ron Dubin for his excellent photo of a surfer catching air. I would like to share it here but I’m not sure if it’s alright to do that so I will just provide the link. And show you one of my pics on the same subject. If you compare the two you will understand why I appreciate Ron’s work so much. Someday, when I grow up maybe I can take pictures like this. Hope so. BTW, there are many pictures here that are awe inspiring. It makes me want to grab the old Nikon D70 and head down the street to the James River.

“kite surfing aerodynamic” /Using The Wind To Get To Work

Another activity at Virginia Beach. I bet you have to be pretty strong to do this. I have tried about six times to get that boat in the picture. But the edit just won’t let me do it. And as an added bonus when I delete a picture in a post it knocks out about five or ten other pictures that I have to go in and replace. Note to Self: Never, never delete a picture again. Once it is up leave it up even if somebody’s head is missing. windsurfer kite surfing aerodynamic /Using The Wind To Get To Work

Ever Feel Like Nobody is Listening?

Do you ever get the feeling that nobody is listening to what you say or write? I do sometimes. But I’m that person too at times. I am that “nobody” who isn’t listening to you or anybody else. Because I get tired of clicking on blogs that I can’t read. I am getting older and the really small letters are too small to read. The dark colors on blogs are very discouraging, too. And it’s difficult to find stuff on some blogs. So I tune out.

But starting today I am going to try something new. Every day I am going to venture out and find a blog that is interesting and link to it. I will comment on it. And I will write about it. Let me know if I should come your way. It’s just another little experiment. Just because we are getting older doesn’t mean we can’t experiment, right?

My Wordpress Experiment

Table of contents for 5/Writing About Blogging

  1. Technorati And Triple Digits!
  2. Blogging For Your Readers
  3. Trackbacks And Bookmarks
  4. My Wordpress Experiment
  5. What’s Here?

I did something different today. For the past two months I have been enjoying blogging as a hobby and an activity that actually relieves Restless Legs Syndrome in many people. During this time my ideas about blogging have changed pretty radically. Content and style have evolved. And what happened today will lead to more change as well. All I did basically was to dial back the number of words and vastly increase the number of pixels. And my readership went up one hundred percent over the previous high number. This tells me that a fair number of people would rather look at my pictures than read what I say. And that’s fine. But I’m not going to stop writing. I would rather have a few readers who comment than five thousand who just stop by and enjoy the pictures. It’s nice to think someone enjoys the pictures. But it would be nicer to have a little communication going on.

The best thing that happened today regarding blogging was my discovery of the commenting feature that allows me to keep up with every comment I have made while wandering around blogland. Now I don’t have to wait for someone to comment at this location. I can go out there and comment. And then instead of going back every day to ten different places to see if, by chance, someone has said something…Well, you get the picture. It’s a great service and it’s located between the two surfing options. Some of my comments have gone without a response and this makes me sad. Because I try to cheer people up. And it seems like they don’t check their stuff very often. Or they won’t communicate even if you come up to them and “shake their hand”.

I am worried, in particular, about this one girl who went on a cruise to the Bahamas and got hit by a bus or something. She ended up in a hospital in Freeport. You have to read her description of this place to believe it actually exists. Here’s a link to this nightmarish vacation. This girl should expand her story and sell the rights to a movie producer for a million dollars.
