Please pardon the mess..
Table of contents for Earlier Writings
I started blogging in June. And I have been running around in my head ever since. It’s not easy to motor around the web when you’re green. And, believe me, when it comes to working on a blog I am someone who has not been there and knows not what he does. Fortunately, I was reading about Wordpress today and found a unanimous opinion that it is better than Blogspot. I was there for a week or two but felt very isolated. There didn’t seem to be a way to connect with other people. And this is not a diary. Boy, would that be dumb!
So after about an hour I am convinced that I have landed somewhere that will feel friendly. Looking around it is clear there are ways to communicate. Much better! In a way, it is like MySpace where I was for awhile until I blew up my blog with some code in the wrong spot. I don’t mean to insult you guys and there is no comparison between the technical and visual wonders of Wordpress and MySpace. But it did give folks like me with little knowledge a way to connect with others and put together a blog. That’s the basic idea that will bring success to any organization. And it certainly brought it to MySpace in a raggedy sort of way.
Keep in mind that these are just the humble opinions of someone who knows next to nothing about blogs. But there are many of us out there. And that’s what is great about 2007 as apposed to 1968, for example. The little people can have opinions that matter and they can shout them from their computers or a reality show. I know about these things. I can remember exiting the subway next to the Boston Commons in 1968 and watching police chasing folks around the streets while cars were turned upside down and windows smashed. Nobody would listen.
Well, I am listening today and enjoy reading personal blogs. And I enjoy writing about some of them here. I hope you will find a moment to share something here. It won’t be about advancing in the world or learning a new skill. It’s just about relaxing for a moment and sharing a thought or two.
